    Default Favourite Set..

Whats youre fave old set from a DJ then..

Fave all time one is probably the Hac set 15/9/89, had it years and never get tired of listening to it

Loving the 3 hour one at the mo tho, since I got the IRiver wired up to the motor..

Mine is a Jay Wearden set from Hippos (think I may have given you a copy of it Neil). It's from late 91-early 92 I think, and in my view every tune is a winner.

Certainly the first tape I'm going to get around to ripping.

Mine was a mix done by a local DJ Stuart B... who used to play at Evolution

he done a mix tape for my brother in early 91 and it was just fecking awesome... really quick mixing.... was top notch..

I ripped it ages ago so I am sure this is floating around the internet now...

Second best mix back then was a 92 Hardcore mix... LTJ Bukem at Sterns 92... totally inspired by his tune selection.. it was the 1st time I had ever heard him play out and just loved his choice of wax..... and thanks to Tommi I now have a track listing... again this has also been ripped and is floating around at 320kps... gimme a shout on slsk if anyone wants it

hmmmm but what about that unknown DJ playing at S.I.A.D in 1990...all those bleepy tunes hmmm that was class too.

difficult to start narrowing it down when i start to think about it..

Ones that remind me of listening to tapes back then....

    Keith Suckling/Doc Scott - Amnesia 23/8/90

Grooverider Eclipse 2: massive thanks to Jaz for reuniting me with this after so long.

Sasha - Eclipse 3: Never been far from a tape machine for nearly 14 years now. One of the first mixes where I wanted every single tune off it on vinyl (ok, I was prolly not too desperate for Crystal Waters... ). Quality mixing, quality tunes, quality dj, double quality club.

    Vertigo - Better Days

And one I never had back then but love now - that Pickering/Park set from '89 that starts with "Do The Right Thing" and "Say No Go"...

Class, its a hard question isnt it..

Ive a load of tapes that I havent listened to for years in the garage, one that I do remember is a Justin Robertson balearic type set from Basics around 92..

Must get that ripped at some point..

Another one of mi faves is the Sasha Bedroom one from Jan 91, that got hammered in the car for years until it got pinched..

Thanks to Paul Stelladry it gets a caining again on the IRiver

Also loving those Sunrise sets at the mo, absolute quality selection of tunes, cheers Mart

Many of the Vertigo tapes had some top tunes on, mixed in with some crap as well!

However, my fav one that brings back many memories would have to be "GOLD RUSH". Crap mixing, good tunes!! Always a winner for chilling out to as well!

And I'm getting closer to getting all the tunes off it as well!

Interesting that Noel - I love the Ali Whitehead at Kaos one from '89 too, but imho he was one of the few DJ's who continued to pull off some reet blinders well into the 90's. He played another blinder around that time at one of the Love 2 Be nights in Sheffield. I remember he started with Son Of God - Hip 2 Hop. Very long shot I know, but if anyone has any ideas where I can get hold of a copy...

Good shout Neil re: Sunrise - forgot about them - quality, especially Vol. 1. There can't just be 3 tapes. There must be some more Sunrise stuff around somewhere... . Come on, get ur Sunrise out!

Aye I've spoken to Al about this a couple of times, that for me Ali Whitehead was my fave DJ by a mile in the mid 90's. Same goes for all mine & me Brother's mates. Used to go & see him play loads!

although its a Radio set as opposed to club set , The Stu allen "best of 90" house mix was one that I used to love , driving down to legends with that on got us all buzzing. Sadly I lost that mix somewhere in mid 91 also used to love the Veritigo - Better days (i think) tape.
