Here's a reggae/disco song from 1984 (or maybe 1983)... from a 1984 set by DJ Ricardo (Ibiza, Club KU - Test Pressing #355)
I have attached a 2 minute clip; the line "let me know when the guns are down" was sampled in 'Techno Grooves - Sympathy For House' (R&S Records 1990; RS90 030) ... (indicating that the song has an accapella section or separate track)
Lyrics:
I spoke to you in a whisper
Told you that your words were untrue
Let me know when the sun's gone down
Morning birds won't make a sound
Let me know when the guns are down
Don't you leave me on the ground
[Make me the counting?] of the guns in the distance
We'll stop once we picked up all the stones we've thrown away
And I can find a million people
From all the countries of the world
[You got to show the very little]
You can find the [same] between them all
I stretch out across the river
Finding stones [that] fall away
You spoke to me in a whisper
Don't you push no pebbles away
Ah, [make me the counting?] of the guns in the distance
We'll stop once we picked up all the stones we've thrown away
You better let me know when your guns are down, let me know when the sun's gone down
And don't you leave me on the ground [caught up?]
Any help would be appreciated - thanks!
