For the most part, if I hear a song, but don't hear the title or the musician's name, I can still search the web to find out who wrote what.
I have done this will all my songs - BUT ONE.
There is this one song I recorded off the radio when I was in my early teens. I didn't have money to buy music, so I just recorded all my favs off the radio. I recorded this sometime between 1993 and 1995. It was on the radio for about two weeks, and then just disappeared. And I mean, VANISHED. I can't find these lyrics anywhere. I have the song transcribed onto MP3 (for all the crappy quality of the tape) and no one, but NO ONE can tell me who wrote this song. Effectively, this song has vanished - NOT EVEN THE *INTERNET* RECOGNIZES THIS SONG.
So, I call upon the combined knowledge of all tuneid and anyone else who reads this, to help me, and the rest of the Internet out.
The singer sounds a little like Lenny Kravitz, but I checked his discographies and lyrics, and he didn't write this song. Please forgive the guessing of some of the lyrics, remember, this is from a decade-old tape.
"Won't you take this (sweater?) from my back?
I don't know how it got to be like that.
Get in love sounds good to me,
You I love where you should be.
Never really miss the things that pass
Won't you take this thorn out of my side?
Won't you let my soul and spirit glide?
Feel the words and watch your lips,
Touching the heaven's fingertips,
I know it's just below my eyes.
*CHORUS*
And I know what I don't know,
I care until I can't.
I am until I realize,
I'm skin and bone and sand.
I see what I don't see,
It gets to me somehow.
I'm free but I am not free,
'Cause I keep looking down.
Open up, open up the window.
Open up the window.
*END CHORUS*
There's so many people you could be.
Why not stop a while and stay with me?
You could leave them all behind,
They're never very hard to find.
I know where you'll be when you leave.
(chorus)
And if this plane goes down,
(Plane goes down)
I will feel the wind on my face.
(I will feel the wind)
And if this plane goes down,
(Plane goes down)
We can (?) the sound that it makes.
(?....................)
Where we're going,
We can go without ever knowing.
The beauty of never knowing.
(chorus)
It's a pretty cool song too.
Thank you in advance!
